               Thirupaavai - Song -9

Aandaal is now waking up her second friend. Aanaai.chaathaan [local bird] birds are singing in praise of the Lord. Our cowherd women are churning the curd. They are also meditating and singing of Krishna's deeds. This is the easiest way of devotion in this century.

We need to live our normal life but always think about the Lord. All our actions must be performed as offerings to him. When the Gopies lived like this, Krishna gave all wealth to them, but they ignored it. He was more important to them than anything else.

The Gopies are dressed in beautiful clothes and are wearing lovely ornaments. That too is for Krishna only.

In this song Aandaal mentions about Krishna's Keshika vatham [killing].Keshika was a demon with the face of a horse. He came to kill Krishna but was killed by Krishna. Gopies named the Lord as ''Keshava''.

This Kesika is nothing but our untamed mind. The guru is the tamer to tame this mind horse.

We should pray to the horse faced Vishnu ''HAYAG.REE.VAA'' to bless us with a good Guru. This lord is considered to be the foremost aacharya in Vaishnavism.

This song is dedicated to Kulashekara aalwaar {7 A.D}.He was a great king and staunch devotee of Sreerama. He gave up all his wealth and took abode in Sreerangam. He is one of the best examples for detachment.

Gopies wanted only Krishna. Aandaal wished only for Lord. Lovers need only their loved one beyond money, fame, status etc. But the mind will never agree. Mind will always wander like the horse on grassland without control.

Exercise: Let us dress up in a grand way, enjoy good food today, even we can see a film...but trace and observe yourself whether are you attached to all these actions Is your mind is longing for more pleasure?
