SONG 26

In this song Aandaal is asking Krishna to bless her group with the following things.

1.They all need beautiful, white conch like Krishna's Paancha janyam which will be blown to warn the demons. The conch is the symbol of awareness. Today in many temples of Kerala, a conch is used to alert and communicate to the devotees about rituals and poojas. Bengalis blow the conch twice a day at home. The sound of conch alerts our mind from illusions.

2. They need the ''parai''   ...a small drum to bang and communicate their procession. Parai also gives another meaning of salvation.

3. They need a beautiful big lamp[symbol of enlightenment],flags to show the peace of mind and love, beautiful screens and tents to take shelter on their voyage to many places to do service. In all Vaishnava temples in Tamilnadu, these objects are used and considered as very sacred. The screen also denotes the separation of the Lord and jeevathma from the apparent-truth. The flag represents the raise of Kundalini. The flag-hoisting ritual in every south Indian temple is very grand and the flag post represents the spinal cord and the two ropes represent the 2 nerves connected to the brain through which the energy gets transformed into Kundalini.

In this song she is mentioning how the Lord took a baby form and rested on a banyan leaf.

*On Panguni Uthiram day, when Lord Ranganathar enters into Laxmi's shrine first they will be seated and screened from the people, to show the detachment of jeevathma from the world. Then after sometime both of them will come out and get seated on Panguni Uthira Mantabam for darshan.

Exercise: Try to find out the meaning behind the pooja tools and few simple rituals.
